Wow, what an amazing
adventure this years CHA (Craft and Hobby
Association) trade show was. There
were many miles of booths to visit and new products to see.
After the first two days we wondered if we would ever get to see
it all. “Divide and Conquer” was our motto on the third day, and
by golly, I think we did it. The
trends I saw; home décor
projects, mini albums galore, and for stamping lots of acrylic, clear
stamps. These stamp
companies are really making a push to make it easy for scrappers to
stamp on their pages and paper craft projects.
As far as tools and
gadgets go, I think our two favorites were the Crop A Dile and the
Cricut Cutter. The Crop A
Dile is an amazing hole punch and eyelet setter all in one.
It punches through paper, chipboard, metal, and they even say
CD’s. Set eyelets with
just an easy squeeze and a quick click to change sizes.
No noise, no fuss!
Electronic die
cutters are starting to pop up here and there.
The cutter we have been most impressed with thus far is the
Cricut. Although it is not
available yet, they are really working hard to get it perfected so that
the first ones to hit the market will be a superior machine.
This stand-alone machine looks to be pretty user friendly and
does not require a computer to run it (great for portability.)
Once we have them in the store, we will be set up to do demo’s
so you too can see how amazing it is.
We took a few photos to show you a sampling of some of
the new products that are to come.

board books? Well we found blank board books that make wonderful mini
albums, journals or books for collaging and altering.
There are many shapes and sizes to choose from.

New for release this summer is the much
anticipated Sports Page Idea book from Creative Imaginations.
I would consider them one of the leaders in the sports
theme selection of scrapbook products, carrying items such as
transparencies, epoxy stickers, printed twill and patterned
paper. Their
talented artists have now compiled a book of terrific page
layouts for those of us that have pages and pages of sports
layouts to do. |

| Cloud 9 and Heidi Grace were bought by Fiskars
just before the CHA show. The
buy-out has given them time and resources to focus on designing
new and innovative products.
The three new paper lines that Cloud 9 introduced were
definitely a brand new look for them.
The bright colors are really fun and they have trendy
embellishments to match. |

| One of my favorite releases yet from Karen.
We missed seeing her at the show, but loved her new
products. Themes
include Oceanside, Antique Collection Family and Memories, and
Antique Collection Love and Youth.
Products include awesome rub-ons, transparencies, ribbon
and printed paper (in color yeah!)
Love it, love it, love it. |

| This not-so-well-known company came out with some
really fun “Take A Part” coasters.
Printed on chipboard and die cut within each other these
little themed coasters make great embellishments for your
scrapbook pages, or use them with ribbon and rings to make a
special little trinket mini book. |

| Prima, the company that started the flower craze
has come out with many more colors and types of flower, as well
as some creative packaging.
Now you can buy larger flowers in clear little paint
cans. Double your
money’s worth as you can use the paint can as well as the
flowers. Use it to
store your flowers and add some ribbons and embellishments and
it makes a fabulous decoration.
Also new for the show are groupings of flowers and
matching embellishments packaged together in a wonderful tin |

| Tim Holtz |
| I took a quick picture of Tim while he was
demonstrating at the Ranger booth.
They have come out with 12 new colors of distress inks. He’s amazing how he uses the colors and layers them to
completely alter/distress a plain piece of paper.
Just a rub of this, a splash of that, a spritz of water
and then add this color, and “voila” you’ve got a
masterpiece. By the way did you see his article in the Creating Keepsakes
Top 10 special issue? He
has some wonderful tips to share and some great scrapbook page
layouts to look at (and “scraplift” if you choose.) |
